I recently found myself with three days on my own in Canggu in Bali, right before a Trauma Teacher Training I was due to attend in Ubud. This child-free time was unexpected and I wasn’t quite sure what to do with this time at first. But I’m glad I settled on going to Canggu – I had a lovely relaxing time.

The last time I was in Canggu was 6 years ago, on my first-ever solo overseas holiday since becoming a mum. My daughter was with her dad in Perth for 6 days. And as I had flown her over there, I decided to carry on to Bali. It was sensational. My intention, at that time, was to recharge, lie in the sun, read, sleep, and eat. And I can confidently say, 6 years later, the intention this time around was completely the same!

It’s not the same as it was six years ago, and it has definitely grown in popularity with tourists young and old. But it is still less chaotic as Kuta and I felt safe there as a single woman traveler.

Here are my must-dos when in Canggu solo!Continue Reading →

Why Retreats Are a Must-Do for Single Mums

Single motherhood is a journey filled with lots of love and strength. But at the same time, it comes with a lot of sacrifice. Balancing work, parenting, and all the responsibilities that come with it can be incredibly challenging and exhausting. And in the midst of this demanding lifestyle, it’s easy for single mums to overlook their own well-being.

For me, taking out a few days once or twice a year and going on a retreat is something that really kept me going during my ten years as a single mum. And I continue this tradition now. I love the opportunity to switch off, rest, relax, and rejuvenate. And I come back a far better version of myself.

Finances can be challenging as a single mum, but personally, going on retreat is something I have always prioritised because I see the value in investing in my own self-care. It makes me a better mum. From my perspective, taking time out for myself and even going on a retreat is not a luxury; it’s a necessity. So I budget for it and forego other optional expenses.

In this blog post, we explore why self-care, including retreats for single mums, is crucial and how it can benefit both you and your kids.Continue Reading →
