My daughter has just returned from a trip with her dad. The Disneyland Dad that is… You know the type? Does the minimal amount of parenting and swoops in from time to time to do all the fun stuff.
Over the years, my ex has had his fair share of Disneyland Dad moments.
Two months ago I celebrated five years of single parenting. How that rolled around so quickly I do not know.

Every time my daughter is away I worry that my ex may not bring her back. It’s a feeling I hope most won’t ever know. But for a small percentage of us, the possibility is real.
And so I go through a period of a few dark, dark days. And even though I’ve spent years working on my mindset, sometimes the darkness is hard to shake.
Last week was one of those dark periods.
