I talk a lot about daily habits with my Thrive Tribe members; it’s part of what we do to help us on our path to thrive. Daily habits for single mums are the small steps that make a difference in our lives – all the little things add up. And this helps increase our happiness levels!
Daily habits are something that I really encourage all single mums to do, to help you on your path to thriving too.
Daily habits for single mums – what are they exactly?
They are small, constructive actions that are taken on a daily basis. I also call them “success practices”, because they do set us up for success.
These small daily habits or “success practices” are really the foundation on which major change can take place.
As you do them consistently, daily habits can give you a sense of accomplishment, momentum, and ultimately really change your life and help you reach your goals. What’s not great about that?
In addition, as a single mum, daily habits help set you up for success by helping you to stay organised and ensure you are doing little daily things for yourself too!
If you’re new to daily habits?
Adding a whole lot of new daily habits in your life in one go is hard. Not to mention – incredibly overwhelming. Ease yourself into it… start simple and build upon it. For some, it can be quite challenging to start new habits; it could be a whole new way of living!
But I also think it’s a really good way to reset your life, especially if you’re a newly single parent or are going through any other sort of transition in life. So, I would really try to encourage you to introduce some small daily action steps, so that they do start forming a habit.
How to get started…
Ask yourself:
- What is currently working for me?
- What is not working for me?
- What habits would support me in the direction I want to go and how I want to live my life moving forwards?
- Am I doing anything for myself?
Then, pick two or three (or even four, if you’re feeling brave) and see if you can start doing these on a daily basis.
They might be related to your personal life or your professional life, whatever it is that’s going to make a difference to your life if it’s done on a regular basis.
Some ideas for daily habits for single mums include:
- Making sure that your inbox is at zero at the end of each day.
- 30 minutes of exercise a day.
- Practising gratitude.
- spending 20 minutes of quality time with your child or your children.
- Getting outside for some fresh air.
- Going for a walk.
- Doing a YouTube video workout.
- 10 minutes of reading.
- Having a bath.
- Drinking 8 glasses of water a day.
- Journaling.
- Completing your morning routine every day.
- Getting everything prepped for the next day.
They might even be weekly habits. And a couple of weekly habits that support single mums are things like weekly meal planning or a weekly budget review.
How to keep track of your habits
There are so many different ways of documenting your habits. In Thrive Tribe, I encourage my members to keep a tracker, whether that’s on one of our printouts or on an app. Or maybe you’re a bullet journal kind of gal?
I want to challenge you today to pick two to four habits that will support you in a positive way moving forward. Write them down and see how you go for the next few days, or even see if you can stretch it out for a week or two!
And after that? Add more! You don’t have to introduce all your habits in one go.
It’s not going to happen overnight. But with time, you’re going to begin to see some real positive changes.
Let me know below what habits you’re introducing, or have introduced. I’d love to hear what they are xx
