How to Have the Best Valentine’s Day with Your Kids as a Single Mum.
Valentine’s Day as a single mum can be tough, but it definitely doesn’t have to be! I actually think it’s the perfect time to put aside a day (or even a few hours) for some great quality time with your kids. Plan some fun activities you might not usually do, and enjoy yourself – just make sure you know how to remove glue from clothes in case things get messy!
Crafts, Crafts, Crafts!
Crafts can be a fantastic idea. You could teach your kids how to make Valentine’s Day cards for their friends at school, or even each other. This is a great way to show your children that it’s a day to appreciate everyone you love, not just a partner. Crafts can also help to improve your child’s motor skills so you really can’t go wrong!
Invite Friends Over
Rally all the troops this Valentine’s Day and bring the single parents together for a party. You parents can enjoy some extra help and adult conversation whilst your kids will love running around with their friends. You can plan an afternoon of activities and all bring around some snacks or supplies – teamwork makes everything easier.
Have a Baking Day
There’s nothing better than getting your kids together for a big baking session. Not only is this an essential learning opportunity for your little ones (think of all that math that goes into measuring and weighing the ingredients!) but I can guarantee they’ll remember family baking fun forever. Whip up a batch of cakes and set up a decorating table where you can all have fun with icing, sprinkles, and edible glitter. Go wild!
Have a Sit-Down Meal
It can be easy as a single mum to let meal times slip a bit. It’s nothing to feel bad about; it happens to all of us. This Valentine’s Day, make time to cook a delicious meal for you and your children and then sit down to eat together without the TV on. Try not to rush to finish and clean up; instead, appreciate the moment and revel in some time to relax.
Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to revolve around romantic relationships, it can also be the perfect excuse to celebrate the love you share with your family, friends, and – most importantly – kids. Take some time out to enjoy the day; you deserve it!
